Don’t Presume To Know The Mind Of God!

Good morning, world. Things are looking good from the front porch of my farm in Virginia this morning. Watching the Master wake up the world is one of life’s greatest pleasures for me and one that I rarely miss out on if I can help it. I savor each morning as the gift that it is, and the sunrise is like the unveiling of this magnificent journey called “today”. As the sun peeks through on the horizon, I wait for enough light to read the Words God has for me today with anticipation. Waiting on God to move isn’t always as easy or as enjoyable as sitting on this front porch waiting for the sunrise in the sky. Sometimes waiting on God can be the truest test of my Faith, but I’ve learned the hard way not to rush things along in life. I’ve learned to wait on God. Isn’t that the way you see your Journey of Faith, too?

Though I know that everything I have, all that I am, my every breath, my everything comes from Him, and I know that He loves me enough to have sent His only Son to die for me, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. Even though I know that He hears my every prayer and they are like “incense” to Him in Heaven, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. Even though He stores up my tears in a jar, savored and treasured by the King Himself, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. Even though He says that He’ll never leave me or forsake me, and yet sometimes He feels so distant to me, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. Even though He says He knows the Plans that He has for me, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. Even though He has unveiled Plans for my future that haven’t come to completion yet, I can’t presume to know the mind of God. The One who set the stars in the skies and calls each one by name has a Plan for my life, and I’ve learned to trust Him with the reins EVEN when I sometimes ache to see Him work in MY timing and not His. I can’t presume to know the mind of God.

Waiting on God sure isn’t easy sometimes, but it beats the alternative. Every single time I’ve taken action of my own to speed things up in my life, I’ve paid a very high price for my actions. God wants me to wait on Him, to trust Him, and to keep Him in the driver’s seat in my life. Through hard knocks and heartbreak, I’ve learned to surrender to Him and His timing. I “let go and let God”. This is the secret to my Peace and my contentment. I can’t presume to know the mind of God, even IF I tried. Besides, who in their right mind would insist on carrying all the burdens of this Journey called Life when there is a God of all Creation ready, willing, and able to manage every detail without help?

How about you?
